We use billiard balls in cue sports which include billiards, snooker and carom. The size of the balls depend on type of game being played. Features of the balls including friction and resilience play a major role when playing the game.
The 8 ball is mostly used iconically in Western, especially American, culture. You can find it mostly as an element on T-shirt designs, covers of albums & names, on tattoos and household goods paperweights. A classic toy is the Magic 8-Ball "oracle". A wrestler, a rapper, and a rock band have all independently adopted the name.
